2015 Cranbrook Recording Studio Competition winners, Trioflight, are set to release their highly anticipated debut album 'The Rumour of Forests and Waves' next month. In celebration of what will undoubtedly be a stellar addition to the Australian Jazz canon the band are launching the album at Foundry616 on Thursday December 3rd.

The Sydney based band is made up of the country's finest and most accomplished musicians, with drummer Dave Goodman (Joe Lovano, Vince Jones, James Morrison), pianist Nick Southcott (James Morrison, Christian Howes) and bassist Max Alduca (Dale Barlow, Andrew Dickeson).

As winners of this years competition the band were invited to record at Cranbrook Recording Studio, with the album being mixed at the renowned Studios301 (Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Chet Faker) by Simon Todkill (Matt Corby). The result is a beautifully crafted cinematic album.

'Having the right chemistry is the first and most important thing for a band. It’s also the most elusive, and it’s fair to say that Trioflight have found a special synergy together', says drummer Dave Goodman.

'The Rumour of Forests and Waves' is a sophisticated meditation on the Australian landscape, emotional explorations and abstract mathematical concepts. Oscillating between improvised pieces and highly sophisticated compositions the album’s emphasis lies in its haunting and beautiful melodies underpinned by a free-flowing spontaneity. The trio's uniquely intuitive approach has produced an album that showcases their “superb musicianship and unique compositions.” - MusicNSW
